I've also though about finding a wrecked 3/4 ton with 4:10's for the cheap, an putting the full float 70 under it.

I'm not really sure what would be in the front of a 4wd 3/4, I've had 9 of these trucks, 318's, V10's, 12 valves, But this silver truck is my first 4wd.


Hardly any rubbing, they do hit the control arms at full lock slighty, but other than that, they're fine.
I thought that they only offered 3.55s or 3.92s in the 4x4 1500 except the 4.10 in the off road edition?

How do you know the speedo is accurate now? I'm guessing you have checked it with a GPS? If not you should and if needed you can get a new gear for the transfer case.
The carrier break is 3.73/3.92 for the D44 but as people said you can just run thick cut gears so then you don't have to change the carrier. As HeyYou said 4.56 would be the best gear for you to use.

Here is one of the best gear calc I have found online. It lets you see what your rpm's would be in each gear. Check it out.

Went for a nice ride on my bike Thursday and then on Friday too. It got windy as heck on Saturday so I had to put the bike back in the garage. Next Sunday there is a bike show at the Red Horse Diner in Ellensburg. I will be entering my bike in the show. 2 years ago I took 2nd place in the Touring category. We will see what I can do this year.

Sorry, I did mean 3:55, my mistake.

And yes, I checked it with 2 different GPS-es. Previously, both said the speedo was about 5-6 mph fast, and now with the 35's, both say its spot on.

However, I have noticed that my mileage has absolutely gone in the pooper, Where before I could get 18 on the highway, now I'm lucky if I can get 12.



As for the gearing, after thinking about it, I think i'd rather just find a beat up 4wd 3/4 ton with 4.10's and take it's axles. Because everyone knows 8 lug nuts beat 5, And full float beats semi float.


Funny, I've had 7 of these 94-97 Dodge trucks, and this one is my first 4wd. First short bed too for that matter.
