Hi there, I have a 1986 W-150 with 5.2/318. I had zero probs for 5 years, but after moving to NC, on my 1st day here, I left he truck on Acc. overnight...drained the battery. After charging the battery, it would not start. No spark to the plugs. So far I have replaced the ignition control module, the ballast resistor, the coil, and the pickup coil. I get no spark out of the coil. The wiring harness has been seriously hacked before I bought, but ran fine for 5 years since. I get voltage to the coil, but none out. Is there some hidden piece of electronics I could be missing ???
They probably installed a standard electronic ignition from a different year vehicle. Pics would help identify what you have. Here are the two most popular Chrysler systems...
I have the dual ballast system...modified, tho. I am also trying to find the wire coming out of the package from to coil to inside the truck. I have narrowed it down to tha fact that I get power to the coil, but no power out it.
