Default sqeak in front end

2014 dodge ram 1500 I have a squeak in the truck appears to be coming from the front end. I have taken it to the dealership once about 25000 miles ago and they replaced a few items under the front end. now the squeak has come back and I am trying to narrow this down because I don't feel like getting the run around at the dealership again about it. The dealership blamed it on the leveling kit that I had installed on the truck.

Could be anything. Tie rod ends, ball joints, CV joints, sway bar end links.....maybe try another place that specializes in suspensions to help you out.

Hi brettj,

If you do decide to revisit the dealership, I'm happy to step in and provide some follow up.

Is this a known issue with this truck I have looked under the front end and can find nothing I have a 100,000 mile warranty but I have a feeling even though the dealership put the leveling kit back on the truck they will say that is the problem.

If the dealer put a leveling kit on it, it's their responsibility.

the leveling kit increases the angle of the shock tower/front coil overs.... this causes the shock arm to make contact with the top of the cup that holds the whole unit in place.... this is very common with "puck" style leveling kits... you will only be able to see what i'm talking about once you have removed the entire strut assembly... there is a hole in the top that allows the shock rod to travel upwards when hitting pot holes or other bumps... under normal conditions (without a leveling kit) this rod is centered in a hole that is located in the top of the cup where the strut is bolted in. When you increase the angle by adding a leveling kit.. the strut rod will be pushed off center of that hole.. this causes contact between the strut rod and the hole in the top of the mounting cup... this is where the squeak comes from... get a good set of quicklift strut assemblies from rancho, or even better bilstien
