Default No fuel squirting in throttle body injection - 1990 B250

Not my van, but I've been asked if I can find out what the problem might be...

Seeing as I'll soon have a similar model B350 with TBI I figure I might have to know one day anyway.

What suggestions can we have?

Does the pump run? TBI only runs at around 15 psi or so. Of course, there is no schraeder valve to making checking pressure easy... so, gotta cobble together bits and pieces to get a gauge in there. If pressure is good, beg/borrow/rent some noid lights, and see if the PCM is even pulsing the injectors. Go from there.

I came close to agreeing with that...

What are 'noid lights'? Obtainable where?

I guess you could check the pressure by cracking a line and turning the ignition on?

noid lights (which is likely short for something, but, I don't know what... they have always just been noid lights to me....) the are just led bulbs in a small housing, with the right connection for your injector harness. They flash when the PCM pulses the injector. Of course, you can't have them both plugged in at the same time..... (noid light, and injector...) so, if you are testing more than one, just do one at a time.

Around here, the local big chain auto parts store will rent them to you. Don't know about Down Under..... Either that, or a specialty tool store, like Grainger, or maybe harbor freight? No idea what's available where you are.

You really need to put a gauge on the fuel line.... judging what the pressure is by how much sprays out isn't real accurate. Low pressure can be just as bad as no pressure. Of course, if NOTHING sprays out.... you have your answer.

Maybe 'adnoid'?

Well, the vehicle is a long way from me and I don't really know what talents the owner has. Just that he hasn't been able to find anyone who understands this TBI.

I will enquire of our major parts stores. I'll get back to you and thanks.

TBI is one of the simplest injection systems, and the technology is downright old..... There just isn't much to it.

Let us know what happens.
