Question Vacuum line check valve direction

Hey All

Im replacing the vacuum lines from the intake back to the passanger side firewall. I had two check valves, one at the intake and one closer to the wall, they were solid black and did not indicate the flow of air. My replacements hare black one side and tan the other. I have looked at multiple videos showing the valves in both directions, tan facing towards the wall and tan facing towards the intake.

Does someone know or can provide a spec stating which way is proper?

Air needs to be able to flow toward the intake manifold. So, the end you can suck thru, points toward the intake.
