Laps for Charity - TX Motor Speedway 9/9/06
Is anyone going to the Texas Motor Speedway this Saturday?
- $25 for 3 laps. If you want to do more than 3 laps it will cost you another $25
- extra $10 gets you a picture (5x7) of you and your car in victory lane after you come off the track.
- Passengers allowed with you, no one under 6
- 6-9 pm on Sat. 9/9...go to south tunnel entrance which is off 114 going west, first light go right...the later you get there the longer it takes to get on the track...it's fun during daylight and under the track lights.
- Pace car does 75 mph..additional pace trucks at the back. **If you pass or go too fast they will black flag you and remove you from the track
- Groups of 10-15 cars at a time.
- There's an area for non-participants to park their cars and watch
- As long as you don't pass anyone and there is enough room you can romp it

Yes, it's an annual thing that The Texas Chapter of Speedway Children?s Charities organizes. They held two Laps for Charity this year at the TX Motor Speedway, the first was on May 13 and then the upcoming one.
These people have it down to a science. 500+ cars are estimated to run on the track from 5pm to 10pm. Optionally, a car can can have passangers, one for every seatbelt, ages 6+. After people are done w/their runs they can park and watch.

RE: Laps for Charity - TX Motor Speedway 9/9/06
This was my fist time to the LFC. We had a great time.
At Hooters we (GF and Kiddo) met up with some of the folks that drove up from Houston, all of them were driving RAMs all of them had nice mods.
We left for the track and parked in the south lot to met up with locals (some old friends and some new). There was an array of Dodges there (see pics). After jawing w/everyone we got in line early for the laps because my GF needed to find a bathroom, which were located inside the track.
After laps we parked and walked up to pit row. Several people gathered there after their laps to watch and talk.
I found the pace cars to be erratic thought the laps, they were not passing me but they got darn close several times. It wasn't necessary but due to that I was keeping an eye on the pace car behind me which distracted from the fun. We also had timid drivers in front of us so I got up to 90 once, I didn't get car out of 3rd gear.
It was a fun day getting to see a varity of nice cars/trucks and metting up with old/new friends.
