2003 Dakota ext cab, 2WD, 3.9L V6 with auto trans, has somewhere between 100K and 150K miles on it. I'll get an accurate mileage read later, I'm not going to look now because it's 19F and dropping outside right now. I bought this truck for a project and will be replacing the V6 with a V8. The engine and trans in there now work fine, and I'd not think twice about driving anywhere in it aside from I have it black tagged and not insured for driving. Before taking it off the road for my project it ran just fine though, and I do move it around on my place from time to time.
Asking price is 1000 dollars or best offer, motivated seller, and you get everything from the engine cover to the oil pan. It will be available for pickup by the first week of March, and will be available to test drive from now until I get around to pulling it out. It also comes as a unit, if you want one or the other you get both. If interested send me a PM. The engine is near Tulsa OK and I'll be willing to deliver 50 miles or so from the Tulsa area, but you'll need a way to get it out of the back of my other truck if I do.
OK, now that it's not below 0 and snow all over, here are three pictures of the engine. The transmission is, of course, behind it. The engine has about 160K miles on it, and even though I've not started it for 3-4 months it turned over and started first go. Once again, asking price is 1000 dollars for both the engine and trans, negotiable, and willing to deliver within 50 miles of Tulsa. When I pull it, I plan to drive it to my shed for removal so it runs and drives. It just doesn't run quite as well as a new V8 will. All the engine accessories will go with it as well as the airbox. Radiator will not, going to use that on an engine test stand I'm building.
Engine and trans are out. I drove the truck into the shop to pull it, and the engine and trans worked fine. Most of the crap that goes on the engine goes with the engine except the radiator and things like rubber hoses which had to be cut off due to age. In other words, I'll stick everything I don't want with the engine.
LAST CALL! Sometime in the next few weeks I'm cleaning my garage out to make room for the next phase of my build. If nobody buys the engine and trans before then it'll be hauled off to the recyclers. I'd really rather not see this engine get destroyed because it's still got a lot of life in it.
I might be interested, I don't have a truck that needs those right now but I play around with Dakotas a lot and may need either motor or trans in the future. Message me your phone# and perhaps we can work out a deal. I am in Colorado but drive around quite a bit...thanks, Sean
