Default New truck

Hey guys,

Just bought a 2006 Ram 4x4 1500 quad w/ the 20" wheels. Need to buy a set of new tires as we drive about 75% gravel roads and it's midle of winter up here in Canada.

I usually drive a lifted TJ, and with the jeep sites it's real easy to find tire/rim/lift info as it's all layed out to size lift/rims w backspacing/ and what will fit tire size wise. I searched here but info isnot so easy and straight forward.

So what i need is how big can i go on stock rims and height? 35's or 37's fit with what lift and what backspacingifnew rims are needed(if needed?)

I know the stock rims are 20x9, and the tires on there now are 275-60-20, can i go taller and wider with no rub issues. I was thinking 33/12.5/20. Would really like to go 35's though if it's easy enough without the expensive susp. lift.

Thanks guys, looking forward to time on the board.

D

You can put 33's on with no issues. 35's will require a 2" leveling kit in the front, but you may still get some rubbing under heavy off-road use. To go 37", you'll need a true 6" lift.

Thanks man,

I've decided to go with a 33" tire, and stay stock height for now BUT can i fit a 305/55/20 which would be a 33x12 or do i need to stick with a 285/55/20 which would be a 32.3x11.2? Is that 12" wide too wide for running a stock 20x9 rim?

Need tires badly, hit the ditch today with the summer tires that came on her.

I believe 305/50/20 are as big as you can go stock with no rubbing issues.

Still up in air about size to buy. Ordered the rancho quick lift, and am going to run stock 20"s for now. Decide to get MT Baja ATZ radials, but can't decide on 35 x 12.5 or the 33 x 12.5. I really like the 35s better but issues?

Like i said above : driving at about 80 to 100kms/hr on70 - 80% gravel roads, snow all winter on those roads. Won't be doingmuch off-roading ( got the TJ for that), but dirt roads and farm land will be in the mix. Any thoughts....

Thanks, D
