Default Question for Ben at Tire Rack?

Will I have any probs with brakes or calipers if i changeout my stock 20s for 17s on my 06 ram 1500 4x4 and what offset do you suggest?

With normal brakes, the truck will take 17" wheels just fine. Offsets can vary. I have wheels that will fit with offsets between 10 and 35mm. Not all wheels with these offsets will fit, but that's the range I see. Lower offsets are used if you lift it (often going to the negative side). Lower offsets stick out farther, higher offsets sit in further.
