Default Question?

So on my stratus RT, I am currently running Yokohama AS430s, 215-50-17. Previously, I was running a 205-40-17 Parada Spec-2, but they wore a bit too fast and were a rough ride with the low profile. My question, can TireRack get me AS430s (as i have been very happy with them and have gotten excellent treadwear out of them) and if not, what would be a comparable tire for the price and quality?

Thanks!

Hi Badstrat. Tire Rack does not get the AS430's they are exclusive to NTB and affiliates if I remember correctly. The comparable tire is the Yokohama Avid V4s. It is a different tread pattern, but very similar construction, ratings, and mileage (rated for 60K miles).

thanks for the update ben. I didnt think about it before, but I did buy them from NTB, as I used to have an "in" there...

one other question..when a company advertises a tire as a "60k tire"...does that mean that there are any repercussions that i can take if they only last, say, 30k?

Yes. You can get prorated replacement based on what portion of the rated tread life you actually achieved. So if they wore out at 30K and were supposed to be 60K, you should get half off the replacements. BUT (and here's what makes them hard to collect on sometimes): the treadwear must be even and the tires must be worn down to the wear bars (2/32nds of an inch). So you need to have good alignment, inflation, and rotation to keep the wear even, or the tire manufacturer will not honor the treadwear warranty.
