Default Wider Tires on stock rims?

I have stock Dodge P/U (1999 Ram 1500 2wd) 16 inch rims with P245R75 (Goodyear Wranglers) on the rims.

I would like a wider tire, for looks mostly. And, perhaps, a bit better handling/traction on dry hiway use.

So my question:

Can I mount a wider tire on the stock rims?
I do not really want to increase or decrease the profile unless I have too.

Thank for any help you may have.

PS ... I know where Tire Rack Distribution is in South Bend ... We ship truck loads of your stuff every day!

265/70 16 would keep your overall diameter almost identical (within .01"). Those would mount on your 7" wide rims, and would be almost 1" wider.
That's cool that you pick up from us in South Bend, that's the headquarters, so I work from here.

Thanks for the info!

PS ... Do you ever have any tires that "fall off the truck"?

Just kidding ...
