Default Winter set 17's/16's instead of 20's

Looking to get a set of BFG AT/KO's for a winter tire since we have always had good luck with those. Question is, what is the lowest size rim can I go with the stock 20 set-up. What backspacing should I look for. I am looking to get a cheaper set of rims such as AR 767's which only go up to 16x8. Any advice?

Thanks
Ed

I'm guessing you're talking about a recent model Ram? If so 17s should work no problem. 16's may not, although some of it depends on the specific wheel. Anybody out there who has gotten a 16 on say an 05 Ram?

Geez, I feel like a knuckle. It's an '06 1500.

No worries, I got close just guessing Seventeens should work, although Tire Rack doesn't currently have any for the truck. A lot of them came OE with 17s, so if worst came to worst you could use a set of factory wheels.

16" rims will not fit a 2006 2500. The brake calipers will hit the rim. I had a set of winter rims and tires from my gen 2. Now I need to get new rims and tires for my new 2006. Bummen big time. i was not prepared for the extra expense.

I also can't find a good snow tire solution.

Maybe a 7" x17" rim would have better selection than the 8" wide rims????

I would like an E rated 235 wide tire But that's a new thread.
