Off road (sand) tires for a 2WD 1993 D-150
I live in Florida and all the "dirt" roads around here are sand. Some of the loosely packed roads can get my truck stuck real fast. I know I could get a 4WD and that would help a lot but I don't really have the money for that at the moment. I'd like to replace my rear tires eventually and get something that will give me better traction in the sand. I don't expect it to be perfect. I just want it to work as well as possible since the place I go hunting is pretty sandy and getting stuck is a major pain. The OE tire size is 235/75-15. Any ideas or is it hopeless with 2WD?
I might try the BFGoodrich All-Terrain TA KO. That's an all-terrain with some fairly respectable off road ability. If you drop your air pressure a little when running on the sand, that helps too. (Don't lower pressure when you have a load in the truck though)
Agree 100%. You can also get some cheap, wider rims to go with wider tires so you can run a wider footprint to help with flotation. It's all about staying on top af the sand and not digging in, like a mud tire would.
