2013 Dodge Dart SXT Special Edition

Dodge has just made it a bit easier to equip the new Dart SXT with the most convenient options including two special edition packages and a new rallye appearance package. Unfortunately, the base model Dart SE doesn’t benefit from these new options, but the top of the line Dart Limited gets a super luxurious Special Edition package of its own.

The 2013 Dodge Dart SXT is the trimline to benefit the most from the new popular equipment packages as buyers of this mid-level compact sedan can now add a Special Edition package and the new Rallye Appearance Package. The Dart SXT Special Edition package (shown above) adds a gloss black crosshair grille, projection fog lights, projection headlights with black bezels, LED race track tail lights, integrated dual exhaust tips, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, a Bluetooth hands free phone system and front passenger in-seat storage. This package carries an MSRP of just $595. When added to the base price of $18,890 (includes $895 destination fee), the Dart SXT Special Edition carries an MSRP of $19,485.

If new Dart SXT buyers want their compact sedan to have a little sportier design, the new Rallye Appearance Package adds a unique front fascia with a gloss black center section, chrome Rallye badging and 17 inch Hyper Black aluminum wheels – all for just $395. When you apply the Rallye Appearance Package to the Dodge Dart SXT Special Edition, the MSRP is $19,880. Considering that the Dart SXT Special Edition with the Rally Appearance Package (shown below) is nearly identical to the current Dart Rallye trimline, we have to wonder if the Rallye trimline will be discontinued going forward. For the time being it is still available on the Dodge website.

The Dodge Dart Limited is the top of the line and packed with features that make it look more like a luxury can than an affordable compact sedan… but the new Limited Special Edition package takes that high end treatment a step further. The Limited Special Edition adds a power sunroof, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual zone automatic climate control, Sirius satellite radio, premium Nappa leather seats, Garmin Navigation integrated into the gorgeous 8.4 inch infotainment touch screen and the Dart’s racetrack taillight design that is unquestionably the coolest look in the segment. This package adds $1,810 to the $20,890 (including destination) MSRP of the Dart Limited for a total price of $22,700. The Dart Limited Special Edition is shown at the bottom of this piece.

These packages are available for the 2013 Dodge Dart at dealerships around the country right away so if you have been looking to get into a new Dart with plenty of amenities for both the mid and high line packages – these new option packages offer an easy way for buyers to get all of the most popular features with one simple selection.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
