1500 rear axle fluid
Hey forum, I told this morning from the dealer that the fluid in my rear axle should be change every 15k. Their expensive charge is 109.95 without tax I think is a lot much. My questions is how to change the the fluid and isit hardto do. What are the best fluids to use and question about 4oz additive for the 1500 limited-slip rear axle.I do most of my own small maintenance like oil, filter andetc.

RE: 1500 rear axle fluid
i always used Mobil 1 but have recently switched over to Amsoil...i always use the friction moddifer, even if the diff fluid says you dont need to, use it anyway....changin the cluid is pretty simple and straight forward....remove the bolts, clean the surfaces really good, put new sealant on it and put the bolts back in...fill it up to just below the fill hole and ur done

You MUST check your c clips, or more correctly, the clutch retaining clips in your LSD whilst changing the diff lube.
That's why Dodge insist on this crazy 15000 diff lube service.[:@]
It's a lot to do with checking to see if the clips are still located in their pockets and not grinding up the carrier.[&:]
Do a search on c clips and you will find all there is to know about it c/w pics.
If you have an LSD, this is a MUST do and if there is any damage iin there, get her done under warranty.
