Default 1990 lil red express dakota

good day all, I just purchased a lil red express dakota. truck is in real nice shape. Was wondering about parts availability. not so much body but machanically. is there trouble getting parts?? it has an automatic trans and a v6 3.9l runs and drives great but i do have to tap the starter with a hammer once in a while. owned it for a couple of days. has 114k on it. also was wondering about how many others still have this stepside. from reading its kind of a rare truck. not sure on the value side though. Any info or comments would be helpful. new to the forum. thanks kurt

Welcome to DF. My neighbor up the street has one of these. Neat truck. You should be able to find mechanical parts for it at most major parts retailers. It's a standard 1st gen Dakota under the skin. Folks around here like to use rock auto as well, there is also ebay. Good luck!

thanks yeah it drives like a go kart. pretty cool kinda wish it got better mpg but no worries. i am thinking 15/mpg avg. i guess that is typical for a 3.9l with auto??
wondering if any mods would increase HP and MPG??

Large truck, small-ish engine, not much. Less restrictive intake and exhaust, full tune up, light right foot.

Hi Since ive only had it for a about a week now, hard for me to make any assessments. I was able to track down the ad from the previous seller in delaware. ad was still online from 2013...in that ad the person listed everything that he did done. that person had the exhaust hooked up. the guy i bought it from pretty much waxed it. He mentioned replacing the muffler @ around 500.00.....so its kind of hard to say. I recieved no reciepts. loss of power?? I seem to have plenty but nothing to compare it too. it certainly isnt the 5.3l in my silverado. wouldnt that be nice.

Kurt

decal is also different than i have seen. Original??
