easy/not so messy oil change?
hello everyone in the the next month my d will be ready for her second oil change since ive got her and on the first oil change i learned that its a very messy process i thought i had all the oil drained into the pan finished filling then went to move it out of driveway. apparently a LOT of oil got trapped on the skid plate? and my D decided hey lets paint the driveway with my dirty oil and a part of the street! not fun.
my question is is there an easier way to not get oil everywhere? do i have to take the skid plate off every oil change? what do you guys do?

With the 4.7L its can be messy, I would recommend just taking the plastic cover off, or folding it back as indicated above.
Thats because you have a 5.2L and it is not located in the same place. Much easier IMO on the 5.2L and 5.9L!!

if you are referring to the mess from the oil filter, not much you can do except pull the splash panel down, if you are getting a mess from a skid plate under the oil drain plug i would suggest a drain valve with a hose nipple on it and a piece of hose they are not expensive and make oil changes MUCH easier
your the rare case having an oil leak mine doesnt leak at all, i put 6 qts in i get 5.5 out after 5k miles.

WTF, Plastic skid plate? Or is that one of those 01-03 cost saving things?
On my 5.2 I haven't really had a problem with the oil getting on the skid plate (which is definitely metal on mine), the messy part is the filter.
Like old_school said, it would help to know what engine we're dealing with.
