Default 2nd gear slipping on 44RE

Yesterday, I went to the grocery store and the Durango (1999, 5.2, auto) drove just fine. On the way back from the store, the second gear would slip very badly. When the 1-2 shift took place, the RPM's would just climb and I would have to let way off on the throttle. Any more than just slight throttle would cause it to slip (no shutter). Third, overdrive, and reverse work fine, it's just second gear. It also slips when in manual drive range 2 (first gear will work fine)

Fluid level is fine and I only use ATF+4 when topping off. It's been about 25-30k since last filter change and band adjustment so it's time to readjust but this problem came on so suddenly.

If anyone can shed some light on this, I would greatly appreciate it. I couldn't find anyone else with this exact problem.

You can remove the transmission pan and inspect the front band adjustment or you can hook up a 300 psi gauge and check your line pressures. I have put the specs in the transmission section at the top of the page.
