Default glasspack mufflers?

what are they? lol... i've heard of putting in glasspacks and such like that but what are they actually? and are they worth it for the Neons?

edit: i heard them on a Mercury Mounteneer with the V8 and it sounded nice...but then i heard them on a old Ford Taurus at a gas station and they sound extremly annoying. are the glasspacks more for the V8s than for the smaller engines?

Jesus H. Christ! Glass packs are a large diameter tube with fiberglass packing used as a resonoator that is then suspended by an inner prefforated tube that acts like a silencer for a fire arm. That is what a glass pack is. They'd sound good for about 3 weeks and then all the fiberglass is shot out the exhaust. So a new one sounds like the one on the mountaineer and then the ****ty sound was on the other blown out exhaust car.

glasspacks usually cause a loss in power....i was gonna get one for my durango a while back, but when i found out it robs power, i just figured i would go with the flowmaster....

if you dont wanna lose power then get a flowmaster, or a turbo muffler....
