Default muffler question

i plan on getting a new muffler. A Dynomax super turbo from my local advanced auto parts for 41$ and its the same diameter as the piping on my exhaust right now. i was wondering how i would go about changing it. since the pipes are the same size. i was just thinking a bendable exhaust pipe like a little bit bigger than the pipe. then just do 2 clamps on either side to hold it?

another question is how loud will it be since on there website it says it moves more air than a flowmaster and that is what i was originally going to get. but then i saw in another post here that people were getting tickets about how loud there exhaust was.

so does more airflow = louder exhaust?

any input would be great.

Not sure but more airflow into the muffler would make it louder, but sound mainly is determined by the size and shape of the muffler

http://www.dynomax.com/products/stp.asp

if you go here you can see whaty the airflow is like. i just dont want it to be so loud that i get tickets like some of the flowmaster neons i hear about.

i used a dynomax 2 1/2" super turbo, deep tone, not horribly loud. just a good agressive deep tone to it. no high pitch ear peircing ricer noise.

Yea thats what the flow gave me too, a nice deep tone. Ive never heard mine though other than in the car but all my friends say it sounds goood since it stays away from the honda civic noise.

And the only way you get better perfomance is to rework your whole exhast system.

i got the cherry bomb turbo II for my wifes jeep a while back....we also had it on our dakota...
it was nt bad, had a quiet mellow tone

i liked the tone of my vibrant.....and it looked good too.....but if you got on it, it would get loud

now the vibrant is gonna go on the wifes pt cruiser and i have the srt4 rear section on my car......nice and very loud with a real low growl and anice cackle...im just waiting to get pulled over
