Default 3.9 power steering pump removal

Brand new here so Thanks in advance for any help! 03 Dakota, 3.9 and am trying to change my PS pump out. i have a Haynes manual and it requires removing the pump with the bracket. Problem I have with that is I can not get enough access to loosen the nut for the ground cable due to the water pump heater hose. Help me please!

Remove the battery and the battery tray mounting bolts. You don't have to completely remove the tray, just prop it up out of the way so you can get an open-end wrench on the ground lug nut while working from the side of the engine. Removing the battery and moving the tray up out of your way will give you a lot more room to work.

I just did this today as I am removing my engine hahaha.

You CAN fit a 14mm wrench and turn like 1/8 at a time, but it works. May have more room if you loosen the AC compressor off (if equipped).

You need to remove or loosen the bracket that holds the upper radiator hose. Just pull up on the hose and it'll come off - it's not fastened on.

This pic shows the exact angle I came at with a 14mm wrench because the waterpump pic up tube is in the way. I didn't remove my battery but I can't remember if I had the AC unbolted at this point.

These pics show that the bracket holding the upper rad hose is held on by a nut which is backed by another nut (which is your PS pump nut). You need to remove or atleast loosen the bracket to get the PS pump off.

Hope the pics help.
