Default Blower motor resistor - 2000 Quad

I've read as much as I can on the melted connector problem. I still have one question. How do you get to the connector to replace it? I can get to the resistor under the engine cowl, but can't get enough room to get the connector replaced. Looked under the dash and I can't find anywhere to get a hand up there to get the connector. Any hidden tricks?

The connector should be under the dash on the passenger side, just below the glove box. There should be two 8mm/ 5/16 screw's holding the sensor into the heater box.
