From your list, cross off everything below the the Rockwell axles.

Are you getting the axles already refurbed or you planning on doing the work?

Will the rear axle be a steer axle too?

Money needs to go into the suspension. What are you thinking there?

Good for you on the project. I could see that thing run some good snow drifts up there!!

I thought the 8.0l had dual exhaust from the factory? Some headers would benefit that more.

Sorry I haven't been on here in awhile, between work and hunting season winding down I've been pretty busy. I'm definitely gonna look into getting a tuner. Any suggestions on brands? I wasn't gonna do dual steering but now that you mention it it would really help with the turning radius on those big tires. As far as refurbished or not, there's a deuce and a half military truck for sale down the street and I thought about just buying that for the axles. But if I do dual steering I'd need two of them. The suspension will all be redone when I put the lift kit on it. The exhaust is dual out of the motor but they connect and come out of one pipe in the back.

Steering stabilizers won't do anything for turn radius. Having steering axles front and rear most certainly would though.

I think you'll do just fine without the throttle body spacer. Use those money wisely.

The lift kit will be a complete suspension replacement. New springs, shocks, everything. Just waiting for hunting season to end now so I have the money to get this project going.

So I know it's been awhile since I've been on here. Done quite a bit of work on the truck too. The biggest part was a new transmission. Mine went out so I had it rebuilt at a shop in town and it's guaranteed to hold up to 750hp even though the truck only puts out 305hp right now. The problem is the new transmission tore up the old transfer case and I'm having trouble finding a new one. I'd love to get a new Atlas transfer case but those push up towards $6k and I just don't have that kind of money. It currently has a 47RE transmission (rebuilt and bulletproofed of course) and a 241DLD transfer case. I was wondering, if I were to get a 241DHD would it bolt right up or would there be extra work that would have to go into it to make it work?

Where are you getting a price tag of 6k for an Atlas? It's more in the 3k range. Call AA and talk with them about what you want then look around for a vendor that has a good price.
