Default Engine swap question (not what you think)

Hi my boss is thinking of swapping out his 4.7. have seem lots of threads talking about this how to do the swap what to swap in.

What i can't seam to find is will the engine swap make registration and smog harder?

So if you have swapped out your engine, what did you need to do on the legal side of things.

Thanks

i think it needs to have all the smog equipment that your truck came with and it has to pass the tail pipe sniffer and not put out any more harmful emissions than your original motor.
call a local inspection station and ask. you might have to call a couple because you're probably gonna run into a couple that will say that you're not allowed to swap engines, ever.

in CA you have to put in an engine of the same year or newer as the vehical, and the engine must have all of the smog equiptment from the vehical it was originaly in. except diesel

But now you opened up a hole other question.
except diesel? I see you converted from v10 to the 12v
what all did you have to do.

And if i can ask why did you go with the 12v and not the 24v?

I know i an full of ran-dumb question

swaping to the diesel is free in CA, and doesnt matter what year or vehical its coming from, take it to the smog ref. he checks it out and takes you off the smog data base.
the 12v has a lot more power potential than the 24V not to mention, on electronics.

on a reply go advanced for the icons (smiles) and they will be there automatically on a new thread that you post

Think i may start thinking about the swap to diesel. not much cheaper but with all the Mexican food restaurants around me i could make some bio.

Thanks for the answers to an easy question.
