Smile Another New Guy Needing Advice.

Hello everyone I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 ext. cab with the 5.2 in it. About 2 years ago in a snow storm I rolled it on the side (could of been prevented but we wont get into beer and women) It snapped the front axle in half and somehow broke the casing on my transmission. After being in another accident in recent time Ive decided to fix the Dodge up. Now finally getting to my question. Does this truck have the 46/re transmission or the 47/re. I haven't pull the truck into the garage yet because I was going to try to get a price on how much fixing it would cost me. I was also wondering if the front end had 4.09 gears in it. Ive been trying to find it everywhere but haven't got a strait answer. Thanks in advance, Charlie

94-95 have 46rh so no.....96+ have 46re but around 98 or some i think they had a small change i would rebuild or try to find your year....and ask monteC

4.10 will help taking off,towing,mudding,......... but you have to macth front and rear gears,,, look at you sticker under the hood to see what gears you have

you should be able to buy it with the 4.10s....it just helps ur truck move itself better, makes it easier on ur tranny, more pullin power is about the easiest way to explain it without gettin all technical

as said about the 1500 -
94-95 is 46RH, which you cannot use
96-97 is early 46RE, which you also cannot use.
98-01 is later 46RE, which has the proper electrical connectors.
47RE was for diesel and V10 and won't fit your V8.

your odds of finding 1500 axle assembly's with 4.10 gears are slim and none, although 3.55 is common. you'd have better luck finding 2500 dana 60's with 4.10 gears, but you'd probably? need its drive shaft, or have to fab one.
