Default Rock Solid Ram Steering Fix

http://www.rocksolidramtrucksteering.com/

Has anyone here ever installed the Rock Solid Ram Truck Steering Fix kit?

How well did it work?

Thanks.

I did. It was pretty easy to install. It helped the steering some, but it definitely didn't solve all the problems. I know there's some others on here that did this and had good results.

It's a bushing that replaces the factory spring setup on the steering shaft closest to the firewall. Tightens up the steering and stabilizes the shaft. I had good results with mine, but I replaced all my steering components a few months prior to the installation. If you have faulty parts, this will not fix them. You won't notice an improvement. By for $60, it was worth t IMO.

It could be a number of factors. Check all your linkages, bushing, shaft, steering box play, even the shocks can cause steering problems. Wouldn't hurt to install the bushing, but don't give your hopes up that it will cure the problem. It may, it may not...

Bump steer is very often sector shaft play in the steering box itself. These old Saginaw boxes just aren't the best steering boxes one could hope for. You might consider a Windecker Machine steering stabilizer that eliminates sector shaft play if all of the other components check out as good.

This is just my experience, but I use to have the same problem when I hit bumps or pot holes. It would get real squirrelly. I changed my ball joints to XRF bj's because mine were shot, not thinking it'd solve my "squirrelly" issue. But sure enough, then next time I hit a nasty pot hole, my truck didn't budge... straight as an arrow. Just my experience...

I am getting ready to order one for my truck. But how does it go in do you need to drop the steering column?

Will or should resolve the steering column "clunk". Remove the steering coupler, remove old stock bushing (and other stuff) install rock solid fix.

decent pictures- 3/4's down
