On mine I used some baling wire, several loops, and wired the pulley to the frame/pit arm-whatever was solid and handy. Totally hillbilly but it worked well.

I tried it and it worked, only problem was the adapter I had on my torque wrench snapped off before I could get to 135ftlbs. Man that bolt goes on tight!

I know what you mean. I have an old Mercedes that I am finishing up a chain on. The crank bolt torques to 300. It was suggested to me to get a 6ft cheater bar and when the socket explodes it should be close enough.

Holy smokes....... Careful where you position yourself when you do that. I knocked myself out when a socket exploded when I was trying to break loose lug nuts. Smacked my head on the fender..... next thing I knew, I was on my back, with people standing around looking down at me..... had a serious headache too......

be careful when putting the water pump and timing chain cover back on, they share some bolts so you will have to out them on at the same time to tighten them correctly.

Not to mention the two bolts that come up thru the oil pan... so, you are trying to tighten things in two directions. (I didn't oil pan fairly snug first, tightened everything else, then torqued them to spec.) Careful when you take it apart not to tear that gasket.
