Headlight upgrade
I want to upgrade the headlights on my 98 ram. I would like to get the quad- lamp headlight housings for a 99-01 ram sport. however i do not want to make my own harness. Will the heavy duty headlight harness from LMC truck for a 99-01 sport with quad headlights fit my truck if i get the quad lamp housings? Will i have to do any other modification to the headlight system? I don't want to have to do any major re wiring. Thanks!

The conversion harnesses are widely available via eBay. I purchased a set of Sport headlights and conversion harness for my truck and plan to install them shortly. The only thing you may have to do is to cut out the back portion of the fender to accomodate the depth of the headlight housing and be sure to use the headlight conversion harness.

Is this the kit you purchased? http://m.ebay.com/itm/380807035946?nav=SEARCH . I didnt realize there was a conversion kit. I would like to get the HD harness from LMC as well. I read that it takes power directly from the battery instead of the headlight switch, resulting in better light output and solving the problem of the headlight switch melting. Would i have to purchase the conversion kit off ebay and the heavy duty wire harness or could i get a HD harness for a 99-01 sport and plug it right in?

I can confirm that relay kits make a huge difference. I'd go so far as to say that if your primary concern is getting better light ahead, you might try cleaning the haze (if any) from your stock headlights, stuffing in some premium bulbs, and installing a relay kit. It'll surprise you how well the stockers perform with just a few cheap changes.

Been a while since I owned a 2nd gen . I do have to say , it has better lights than the POS 2011 Ram sport I just got rid of . Think the best was the 07 3500 . For factory lights , they were impressive .
I don't have new or fancy lights , all stock , but , I did properly adjust them . Last night we drove 100 miles of country hwy and it was foggy as heck . I had no issues seeing the road . Wouldn't mind trying the wiring /relay with the stock lights , my truck has no fogs .....yet

I'll be ordering the parts to do this conversion shortly. I already have the LMC harness installed for the 9004's currently on the truck (which made a pretty noticeable difference). I am buying the 9007 kit from LMC made for the "sport" model trucks so that each light is run off an individual relay. The only mod required to this harness would be the trigger switch, ie. changing the 9007 socket to a 9004 socket, which requires swapping the socket wires around. You'd have to extend the trigger wire as well to end up on the passenger side (it will come wired for the drivers side).
As said above if you are just looking for better light output do the relay kit, polish your lenses and most importantly buy some 80w/100w high output bulbs. I am currently running this setup and light output is drastically better than when I got the truck. I'm only interested in doing the dual beam swap to get rid of leaky headlights and for nice clear lenses to update the look of the front end.
