Default Windshield Wipers

I have a 1998 dodge 1500 and the windshield wipers suddenly stopped working. I tested the motor and that still works. Bought a new switch and still not working. I noticed that when I turn the key it blows out the wiper fuse right away. I guess that wiper wire is grounding out.
Where do I go from here to find the source of the problem?

How did you test the motor?

When I had symptoms like yours when it blew the fuse right away it turned out to be a blown motor.

Also, sometimes the joints on the linkage become worn out and wont pivot correctly.

Brought the motor to Advance Auto and a friend tested it for me.
What ever he did the motor started running. Next I changed the relay for the wipers and the fuse still blew. So apparently the problem would be from the wiper switch to the relay/fuse box under the hood?

If you don't have one already, grab the appropriate service manual from here. Wiring diagrams are in section 8W. Incredibly helpful when chasing electrical gremlins.
