Chrysler corperate posi
I got a quote of $282 for a factory posi unit + $190 to install. Questions...#1, the corperate posi that comes factory in rams; is it any good? Im looking for a very streatable posi unit. 99% street, 1% track. Question #2, Is that a decent price? $85 an hour sounds like a good deal to me for a rate. 2 hours for posi, 2 hours for gears. what do you think about the time quote too?
One more thing. If anyone has a set of 410s that they want to get rid of, let me know.

I'm not a huge fan of the factory LSD. Mine just failed at 65000 miles and not with a ton of abuse either. It's the only thing to fail prematurely on my truck. While I was never a huge fan of Auburn, I've heard pretty good things about the performance posi they make for our trucks. On the flip side, that seems like a pretty reasonable price you've been quoted.

RE: Chrysler corperate posi
the summit posi is for a older 99.75 diff not this one. that price is great i get 6 hrs at 94.00 an hr for an overhaul. 282 is like cost for a unit. list is higher than that i belive.
has anyone tried replacing the clutchs ina half ton posi with ones from a dana 60 posi. i heard they were the same clutches. i can get new clutches for 60 through chrysler but not a 9.25 by application. or will the ones from the 9.75 diffs work?

Sounds like a good price on both the lsd and install.
My stock suregrip lasted me 50k miles, 900 1/4mile passes (all with burnouts) with about 650 of them on slicks. Lots of testing on deserted roads and generally driving it like I stole it. Figure I did ok considering how much abuse it had to take. Currently have the Auburn H/P in it the last 3yrs.Auburncarrieris a fair bit beefier than the stock unit.Auburnlsd requiresdino oil (running synth prior) so thatand the beefier diffslowed my truck on the 1/4mile by about .15 secondswhich is probably about7rwhp.
For the price and how you use the truck, probably better off with the oem.

I have one waiting to be installed, got it on eBay for $150.00 plus $22.00 shipping (OEM, new in box....woo hoo!). I did a lot of research and would have gone with a true-trac but for the price. I hope the factory one will get me by for another 70,000 miles. I will be changing the fluid in the rear diff every 25,000 miles. Maybe that will help keep things working. Found a guy locally that worked at a Dodge dealership for 17 years. He says he'll put it in for me for $100.00 and a six pack. Scheduled next week!
