Default Wtf??????

After a new engine block was put in by the dealer 3k miles ago..... went to do a simple oil change yesterday. grabbed my castrol edge and my usual k&n hp- 2009 oil filter. i go to put the new filter on and it wont grab. thought the threads were messed up when i noticed the hole on the filters were different sizes. grabbed a micrometer to measure. ones 3/4 inch and the new one is 22mm. how could they of done that if they grabbed the same block. its the 3.7l motor. i ended up putting a short and stubby filter on there made for a ford and it seems to be holding. the old filter that came off was the same length and width as the 2009 K&N i always put on but the threads were diff. any explanations on why the dealer would do that and whats a good part number for the 22 mm filter?

Try doing a cross reference check on the OEM filter and see what comes up.

I tried cross referencing it online and got nothing. took it to the auto parts store and they couldnt cross reference it either. im thinkin it might be a new filter and the block might be some updated model of the original 07.

you have a 2009+ block. I am guessing if you were to look for a part number on it, we could verify that.

Damm beat me too it.
