I have a 2011 Durango Crew. In the manual it states that if the engine is off and a key fob is in the proximity of the vehicle and you use the manual door lock on the drivers side door (or any for that matter), that the vehicle will automatically unlock and the horn will chirp.
My Durango does not do that. I locked my keys in my vehicle. I've tested it and every time it's the same. the key fob is inside and the doors lock. Now I know if you do this 3 consecutive times, it will allow you to lock them in, but it shouldn't happen on the first time.
I called my dealership and they said Dodge hasn't provided a fix for this, so there is nothing they can do and I should be more careful.
Please tell me that there is an easy fix or any fix to this issue.

Rmeurer,
When you do this where is the other FOB you eventually use to get back in the vehicle?

I am assuming you have the passive entry system, correct?
If no one is inside the car and the FOB is in the car and no other FOB is outside the car, then if you lock the doors using the power lock switch the system should unlock the doors while chirping the horn 3 times then re-lock the doors.
When you use the FOB to lock your doors from outside the vehicle does the horn chirp? Is auto unlock selected on the EVIC?
