Hi,

Names Ken. New to these forums but am pretty frequent on various Jeep forums. I'm looking at picking up a new to me Dodge. Right now I'm looking at 3rd Gen 1500 or 2500's. Looking for advice and things to look out for. Thanks in advance.

POWER! Get a Hemi if its the right price, it gets very similar mileage to the 4.7 and 3.9 (or 3.7, I forget).

Avoid that smaller engine though. It doesn't seem to have enough oomph for the size of the truck.

The 4.7 moves just fine. And having had one for the past 7 years, my dad will attest to it just fine.

Yeah the 4.7 gets ragged on too much IMO. It's a perfectly capable engine for the truck.

Just for the record before I get flamed, I wasn't ragging on the 4.7, I was ragging on the smaller one. The v6.
