question on lifetime powertrain warranty

question on lifetime powertrain warranty
so i just got a 2008 dodge ram 1500 laramie with 28000 miles.
When i got the truck i was told it only has warranty for the 3 years(1.5 remaining) or 36000 miles(8000 remain) and i can buy again for 2500 bucks
I found the original owners dealer build sheet and it shows that the 3 year 36000 miles is for the basic warranty only which i assume covers electrical and stuff like that.
But it stats that there is a lifetime powertrain warranty but thats all it says.
Was this warranty tranferable, and if so why would the dealer not say, and would i have had to sign anything to get it.
What does it cover

Sorry bud, the lifetime only applies to the original buyer. It does not transfer. The bumper to bumper does however.
As coverage anything from the mechanical parts of the engine, tranny, transfer case and rearend. Electronics aren't included. It even includes the water pump in that. I even want to go as far as the u-joints on the drive shaft, but I may be wrong on that.

I bought mine and had to tell the dealer to transfer the warrenty on the power train and made them pay for it or I would not buy the truck. It can be transfered but I beleive there is a charge for it that is why most dealers will not tell you about it. I am thinking it was like a 150.00 bucks to transfer it.

if it is transferable am i able to still get it seems i bought the truck, i would pay for it if its only 150.
The bumper to bumper still has 8000 miles left on it and when i get to 35000 or whatever i can buy another 3 years 36000 miles for 2500 bucks, Is that a good deal?
what does the bumper to bumper cover if the powertrain covers the motor and trans?

Before you spend the 2500 you need to see if it was Chrysler certified pre owned if so you should be able to get an 8 year 80000 powertrain. I bought an 08 used last year and it was owned by a Chrysler exec, in Detroit MI and it was certified pre owned didn't cost me a thing. I have the 3/36000 bumper to bumper and then the extra 5 and 44000. For certain the lifetime is non transferrable.

Lifetime Powertrain warranty applies to original buyer.
3yr/36kmi Bumper-Bumper warranty includes Everything except wear items and normal maintenance.
I think if you really plan to keep the truck and aren't mechanically inclined, the lifetime bumper-bumper may be a good choice. A failed transmission at say 85kmi and your out more than $2500 if you had to pay a dealer for the replacement. They do those warranties because they expect you to trade back in a few years so they end up making out for the most part.
If you plan to get another truck a few years down the road(most likely) it's a gamble either way. For the most part warranties are a wash.
