Default memory steer

here's the deal...i changed all 4 ball joints a couple weeks ago, yea i said all 4, dodge sucks big time...anyway now i have memory steer, the truck has been aligned twice in two weeks and still has memory steer....and apparently this truck is the biggest mystery on the planet to people. here's whats happened to it in the last 6 months...power steering hose, radiator, 2 idler pulleys, all 4 ball joints at 80,000 miles and numerous things that shouldnt be happening yet. Does anyone else have major problems like this with there ram? And if ANYONE can give me some advice on the memory steer thing let me know PLEASE. there is nothing left to change cause its all been changed so now im down to the steering box, so if that sounds like good idea or know let me know. thanks, and oh yea it has the 2 inch leveling kit and 35" BFG's on it.

nope my 2500 has never had ant issues you speak of and im at 66k
my guess is your problems are from a heavy tire and possibly the year 04's had a few problems in the 1500 aswell as the 2500. mostly hemi engin problems but i dunno

stange that an alignment didnt fix the steering pull. might want to check one of the steering racks to see if theyre going bad.

broken belts in the tire causing one side to be higher. rotate tires, see if it goes away.
you would get better responses if you didnt start a biching rant saying how dodge sucks... this is dodgeforum....

Memory steer? WTH is that? The truck knows it's way home??

If it is pulling to one side, then it could be a tire or a brake dragging.

I was wondering the same thing? Do you have to record the steering in order to save it in the memory? How How much memory does it have?

Is memory steer like a wandering type action, or pulling to one side, or wobbling?? We need some more verbs to describe this problem.

I agree..........If you think Dodge sucks, then get rid of it

yup, dunno wtf memory steer is. I assume he's talking about pull. the ball joints won't really cause pull to one side, it's the tie rods you should be looking at, which they should have done with an alignment. you sure the shop knows what they are doing?

If by memory steer your mean the wheel does not return straight as it should when let go, I hate to tell you this but you need new ball joints. When you (or whoever) installed them you pressed/hammered on the top and smashed it in and the ball is not swiveling in there as it should. You Can only install them by pressing on the small shoulder around the ball joint, any where else and they can/will be damaged.

I'd be willing to bet my last dollar on it. It sucks but I'm 99% sure that's the problem.

I thought memory steer was one of those new exclusive upgrades. previously only available on James Bond edition Rams!

Hemi 4x4, is possibly correct. Either that or the guy doing your alignment isn't doesn't know what they are doing. Incorrect Caster will cause this, Have them adjust the caster little more to the positive than what the machine is telling them and see if that helps.
