I have a 07 dodge ram 4x4, and three times in the past week ill be driven down the road and the engine with just cut out. Any ideas???

 

Are you having any studdering problems?

When you are stopped at a red light, does the truck shake a bit?

My truck only died twice while driving, but would studder while idling.

I just replaced the EGR valve and I am having no more issues, plus my MPG have increased substancially.

 

no theres none of that, 3 times in the past week I have been driven down the road and it'll just shut off.

 

do you get any lights come on on the dashboard? About a month ago i had to replace both the cam shaft position sensor along with crank shaft position sensor. My truck would be fine and then it would lose all throttle and would idle really really hard. The check engine light and throttle light would come on during this.

 

first problem was my check engine light would come on then my remote start wouldnt work, check engine light goes of a week later remote starts workin again, then 3 times in the past week i have been driven down the road then all of a sudden i lose engine power, check engine gauges light comes on, but everyhting looks normal, put the truck in nuetral startes right up.

 

so does it totally shut off or does it idle?

 

Have you had the codes read?

Goto Autozone and they will do a free read if you don't know anyone with a reader.

What you are explaining is exactly what my truck did.

It died one while going through the car wash. A week later I started the truck and it died. I started it numerous times again and it wouldn't stay idling. Eventually the key wouldn't even turn the truck. It eventually started. It died again about 2 weeks later while driving. The check engine light came on during that dying phase. I ran the codes and my EGR vavle came up.

I changed the EGR valve and the truck is running like a champ again.

I would look at the battery or alternator. Then the Auto Shutdown Relay in the fuse box under the hood.

 

i had a car shut down on me many times...it was determined to be the security system malfunctioning...just thinking out loud.

 

Sam or Fred had tjhis same issue on DT and it ended up being his fusebox (PDC)
