Mine is an 05 but should still work...press and hold the trip meter button then turn the ignition to on but dont start the truck and let go of the button.

At the end of the test it will display C-Code and any codes stored if no codes you will get C-Code 00 00

Btw Is u seach any of weedahoe's posts he has a link where u can download a service manual for ur truck

mine does this too, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to work more ever since I lifted it. Not sure of the reason either cause the light obviously works. It must be a bad relay or switch that is intermittent. Either way you can tell if it is working cause 2wd in snow = no go, 4wd in snow = go anywhere

I had the identical problem, it was a simple and cheap fix. The part is called position sensor, cost about 32 bucks and took 15 minutes to replace. The sensor goes in the front of the transfer case. Make sure the oil ring is reinstalled.

Yes I know where the sensor is and how to replace it... What im trying to do is figure out why the 4WD light still doesn't light when I do the trucks self diagnostic because as far as I know it still should and why it doesnt? Thus I dont think its the sensor

When you say position sensor, is it the Crankshaft Position sensor (CKP) or the Camshaft Position sensor (CMP)? I may just be lost all together.
