I think its gapped to .035...and for gods sake dont stick those platinums in your neon...iridium or copper is the best for our engines, so if you can take them back do it fast!
Well then i'll explain in more detail...there really havent been any huge horror stories about platinum plugs but the major problem is how long they last, since 1/2 of the plugs fire in a reverse polarity, 1/2 of them wear faster, thus causing problems down the road with misfires and general loss of performance. There have been many cases on the .org where people have installed platinums and after a few hundred miles or so they throw codes all over the place. After taking out the plugs and even throwing in some cheap NGK V-Power or Champion's, they've been running fine ever since. Another issue is that Platinum holds heat more then a typical copper or iridium plug. Keeping the heat lower decreases pre-ignition and fouling of plugs, thus extending the life of the plugs more and keeping better performance and gas mileage...
