Default Question for a Chrysler Rep.

I asked Ford, GM,; Nissan, And Toyota The identical question I ask now.

Can I order a 6sp sp manual transmission i. n a full size, gas powerd truck?

I Will not buy new, 2015, unless thiers a option for a manual Transmission.

I have two options, :Tacoma,; Mid size, save lots of money, or CTD and pay mega bucks for more truck than I need.

Please do not offer up typical BS stating thiers no demand, im willing to pay more [ not CTD More] for my preference.

Im not so sure Chrysler wants a owner investing in after market parts just to keep a 2006 hemi 2500 6sp road and off road ready.

I actually had a buddy of mine with an 05' looking to upgrade to a 14' and asked if their was any way to special order a 6 speed for a Hemi and he was told absolutely not unless it was for a large order (multiple trucks) and even then it would be at a significant upcharge. The best he could do was the dealer said they could order him a 6 speed trans and retrofit it but the cost would be huge and they would not warranty the job.

Best of luck.

I'm pretty sure in an article I read last year stated that No 6spd manual is available in gas 2009+ model years. Mostly because of demand.

And, you cannot possibly compare a Tacoma to a Ram unless your need for a truck has less to do with towing/hauling.
The new ZF transmissions are 8spd and are probably more efficient than any 6spd manual.

What is the reason for a manual? Do you like the manual labor to shift? Just a lot of work to shift a truck IMO. I've driven my truck(superchips trans tune) and in a 6spd Ram. The 6spd sucks. My truck is way faster and snaps my head back like no other. It's smoother..etc I much prefer automatic. it's seamless when towing. Plenty of power with the Hemi for an Automatic.

A tacoma, 6 sp will meet my needs better than:a hemi 8 speed automtic.
And a ctd 6sp sp is way more truck than I need.

I enjoy driving stick shifts, More positive nteraction and sense of control than poping a dail into drive..

My maytag offers more dail turning joy!!

From my many years and miles of experience a manual transmission gets noticeably better fuel mileage. Also IMO it gives you better control, performance (except in drag racing) and versatility than an automatic. JMO

plumcrazy73,

Our Ram 2500 and 3500's do have 6-speed manual transmissions available, however, the option is only available with a diesel engine.

@cyclone429, a manual transmission is not an available option with our gas powered engines.
