Manifold Bolts
Hoping I can get some answers here...I have 2009 Quad Cab 4X4 Sport Hemi. Just had it in for some service at 89000 miles for what I thought was a tapping valve. Was told by the dealer that the exhaust manifold bolts have broken off. This was during their inspection that they noticed. Has anyone else had this happen and what could cause it

RRT is: 10-009--Replace Exhaust Manifold Bolts
However if you are out of warranty then you are out of luck.

I have had mine in twice for broken exhaust manifold bolts because they did not replace them all at once. The second time the Exhaust manifold warped and the bolt broke off flush with the head. They had to remove the head and send it to a machine shop to have it removed. Now I bet they are wishing they had replaced all of them at once. BTW, it is covered at any time on the 09 lifetime warranty, didn't cost me anything.

To me, they should remove the exhaust manifold and replace the gasket also. If there is a leak, the hot exhaust is for sure damaging the gasket. I think Chrysler is being less than honest by simply replacing the bolts. I bet that after the warranty is gone, if you take the truck to the dealer, they will probably insist on replacing the gasket in order to warranty the repair won't leak again. Just my 2 cents.
