Default What do I need in order to run 37x13.5r20 tires?

Hey Guys,

Been watching this forum and decided to finally join! I will be purchasing my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 Crew Cab within the next few months and wanted to have everything planned out before hand.

I was wondering what I needed to run 37x13.5r20 tires? At first I was planning on running the BDS 6" but then I think I may just run the Zone 6" lift (because of cost. Plus I hear the lift is almost identical to the BDS lift). I understand the zone lift says you can run 37x12.5 but what about 13.5? I like how the tires stick out a little bit more. I wont be doing hardcore off roading, but if I get curious, I'd like to be able to tackle some obstacles.

I DO NOT want to use wheels spacers. Heard too many terrible stories.

Also, if needed, could I just add an extra body lift or a leveling kit to the zone lift? I'm new to lifts, so this will be my first. I dont want to run into any future problems, so I'd like to research and discuss to make sure everything is right the first time.

Thanks bros

I want to run this tire and wheel combo. I tried to message the user of this 1500 but he hasnt gotten back to me. All he has labeled is

" 6" BDS suspension lift, 37X13.50R20 TOYO Open Country MT's, XD series rims "

I dont know if he used the 5" or the 3" rear, any leveling spacers, body lift, wheel spacers, or Bilstein adjustable to fit the 37X13.5's?

What do yall think?

I run 37x13.50 tires,in an 18" wheel configuration.Have 6" procomp stage 2 suspension lift,3" performance accessories body lift,1-3/4 bolt on wheel adapters,Helo Max 6 18" wheels with 4.5" backspacing,9.5 wide,and Procomp x-terrain 37x13.50 tires.Also,a 2" Front leveling kit.I chose to use 18" wheels instead of 20" to have more tire side wall,instead of the all rim look.

Did you ever run those tires before the body lift, wheel spacers, and leveling kit? Im not big on lifting as much as I am tires. In other words, Id rather have the lowest lifting possible to run 37x13.5. I have seen people run Mopar's 4" lift with 37x12.5 and people running 6" lifts with 37x12.5, but nothing besides this truck ive attached images of, running 6" and 13.5's. Im sure he used something else besides the bds 6" lift, just trying to figure it out

No,actually had it all installed at pretty close to the same time. Before the body lift,i was runnin Nitto Mud Grapplers, with the 15mm side lugs,35x12.50R18,without rubbing.Had the same rims I do now,Hello Max 6,with the 4.5" of backspace. What I am trying to say,is that the Mud Grappler 12.50's,are the equivilent to anything else in a 13.50,due to the 15mm side lugs that the Mud Grapplers have.....So with a rim having 4.5" of backspacing, may clear the upper a-arm,but don't know about the clearance at the inner fender well at full turn.....

I would probably think they would fit,but having a tire that wasn't to square edged would be the key here.Tires that are cut back away from the side wall are generally suited for lifted trucks.Like the BFG tires are....Only thing is,that makes them have a ballooned out,or swolen look to the tire...

I just helped a buddy with a 2010 replace a CV axle Tuesday with 37" tires on his truck. Snapped like a twig. Obviously the dealer laughed at him when he walked in and uttered the word "warranty".

YOU HAVE IFS TRUCKS BOYS! If you want to run 37s and do anything other than cruise the local high school for chicks then buy a SFA truck...

Would you care to explain more? Just hard to explain why mopar would advertise a lift themselves and run 37" tires if the truck wasn't capable of handling it. What type of lift was your buddy running? Do you think it could've been something else or solely based on him running 37" tires? Thanks man

Sounds to me like the only way the cv would have broken was while being in 4-wheel drive, maybe turned at full lock, and had tremendous torque apllied to it all at once..But who knows....

Yea idk, mopar advertises a 4" lift with 37"s and there are 7-8 people I know running 37"s for over a year with no problem. Sounds like that guy that snapped his cv must've been doing something extreme to cause that.
