Default 2nd gen ram head, amp, 6x9 speakers

just to be doing i started a new thread and posted the pics. i forgot to take pics of the amp wiring, but i ran the power wire through an existing rubber hole in the firewall and down the drivers side kick plate. ran amp turn on & rca's down the passenger side. ran speaker down the middle behind air bag control, under 4wd shifter trim, past cb radio mount and alongside seat to the rear.

the 6x9 speakers have a 3" depth, and are shimmed out 1/4" to clear the window. the tweeters protrude about 1/4-3/8" and slightly bulge the door panels. they are sturdy and seem like they'll be ok. i don't think anything deeper than 3" AND with a protrusion would work out.

pics coming, stand by...

.the wire with the bent hook is the tool to catch and pull the window crank clip.
the panel removal tool was only $10 and well worth it to pop the door panels.
to get the rear b-pillar panels off, remove kick plate, both upper and low seat belt bolts, center vent-like panel above seat belt. shine light in the vent hole and locate the clips. stick big long flat screwdriver in behind the clip and twist it to pop the clip. there is a plastic peg at the bottom into a body hole. it has to pull straight out, don't force it up or sideways.

read this---

The stock speakers are 2-1/2 inches deep from the bottoms of mounting flange, which fits flush against the door sheet metal.
those just clear the window frame - which is about 2-3/4 or 2-7/8 deep.
a 3 inch deep speaker requires a 1/4 inch shim to clear the frame.

in the picture - the piece of OSB board is glued to the speaker to give it a 3 inch depth, and create a mockup for test fitting.
so if you are planning to fit in deep speakers - create your own mockup and determine how you're going to make it fit, both in depth and tweeter protrusion...

note that the stock speakers have no tweeter protrusion. the door panels will allow a little, but i don't have a measurement for how much.

the 1/2" osb is a mockup to create a 3" depth.

speaker shim is a 1/4 inch nut (which is also 1/4 inch thick).
