Default 2008 Grand Caravan Power Side Door Problems

Hi! Anyone else having problems with power side doors not closing? Ours have been doing it quite often for a couple of months. Has been looked at three times without resolution. Door gets 95% shut, then reverses itself.

Chrysler has released a software update for this issue on 2008 minivans. It involves reprogramming the sliding door modules with revised software. The tsb # is 08-028-07. This will have to be performed at a dealer and should be covered under your basic warranty (not powertrain). You should also check and see if anything is getting stuck in the door while it is closing, which would also cause the same problem.

tenntech, where can I find all tsb's for the '08 GC? I looked on this forum under the Dodge Recalls & TSBs but only saw 1 tsb for a trans problem.

I'm not sure about any web pages that are available to the public. I work at a chrysler dealer and have access to chrysler's web site.

Yes it is covered by warranty but it is a hassle making several trips to the dealer. The rest of our experience has been very good. The upgraded software did nothing to resolve this problem. The problem was not caused by objects getting in the way. It was hard to diagnose because it was not sensitive to what angle the van was parked at, or whether or not the engine was running, or anything. Now the dealer has ordered new parts and I will post an update once they are installed.

sounds like the snake like track wiring. dodge has always had an issue with those.

my 08 is doing the same thing, its not the wiring...been replaced, not the flash either...thas been done. a call to chrysler led to me to the fact they have no current fix for this problem, and they are working on a solution. but for now, the flash is a waste of time as it does not fix the random not closing problem. i ad my van for 1 week, went out to breakfast and i'm sitting in the resturaunt and a guy comes in and asks everyone whos new van is outside with the door open getting snowed in....i was none too thrilled. good thing we live in a small town where you dont have to worry about being robbed blind when something like this happens.

Ours was doing this but has now stopped. It seems like the more we use it the better it gets: my wife says it has been over a month since it has done it. Ours now has over 10 000 km and the sliders get used daily. I guess it is somthing we will all need to keep an eye on.

At the bottom of the sliding door is a schlepp cable that may either have a crimped wire within the plastic casing or a partially seperated connection. If the cable sticks out from under thesill when the door is open it needs to be removed and given ahalf to full twist inboard and then reconnected. That makes the cable stay tucked in and prevents it from causing the slider to open or not close completely.
