Default 2008 grand caravan keeps blowing back-up fuses

My 2008 grand caravan keeps blowing the back-up fuse. Van also has factory back-up camera that is also inop I think its on the same fuse. I have unhooked both tail light and back up camera and still blows the fuse as soon as it is put into reverse. I am thinking it must be in the neutral safety switch on tranny?? or any other ideas ?? thanks for your time Darren

Switch is a good place to start. You have a transmission range sensor, not a neutral safety switch. Yours is combined with the solenoid pack. Disconnect it and see what happens. If it's like previous model years it's a vertically mounted connector on the right front of the tranny.

Looking at the wiring diagrams a second time what I told you before was correct but now looking at another diagram it's not all that cut a dried. You shift to reverse, the switch in the TRS completes a path to the PCM. The PCM sends that signal over the CAN data bus to the TIPM. The TIPM sends the voltage to the reverse lights and camera. Might verify all those connections are clean and damage free before going for a solenoid/TRS pack. BTW - disconnect the negative battery cable before disconnecting any module. There is always power applied.

Want the diagrams? Send me a private message and include your email address.
