New 2014 CTD. I haven't had a diesel truck since the early '90s back in my bass tournament fishing days. Back then, the buzz among all the guys pulling to the boat ramps in diesel trucks was to only buy at truck stops. Citing the fact that with so few non-18 wheeler oil burners out there, gas station diesel just sat in the tanks too long.

Is this pretty much still the case or are there enough diesel cars out there that gas stations get diesel deliveries at a fairly decent turn-around???

 

I always use Exxon or pilot. Some of the other stations have to much bio mixed in.

 

Chevron down the street (diesel kleen mixed in??) if I'm in a hurry, or the casino for the 30 cent savings.

Around here there are tons of diesels, I wouldn't worry about fuel sitting in the tanks.

I would think about researching DPF/Cat friendly fuel additives. The process with which they remove the sulfur also removes the lubricating bits from the fuel. Those of us with older or non-emissions trucks can dump 2-stroke oil zddp or any other additive into our tanks and not worry about it.

 

I just started using diesel kleen, in the grey bottle. Picked up a few more MPG. Especially when towing.

 

the gas station with the best looking clerk, lately the one around the corner a bit. she seemed pretty interested until I said broke farmer as my job.......shoulda rethought that one

Mobil. Im terrified of getting a tank with a little water in it so I stay away from no-name stations.

 

I live less than 2 miles from I95. There's a pilot two exits south (about 12 miles) and I was gonna head there, but hell, the BP right at my exit has three rows of big rig pumps not to mention two pumps out front in the gas isles. So I figure they gotta have decent turn around, plus I've had a BP card for over 20 years, so I got it there. Just a penny more per gallon than the pilot price...

 

I've seen the aftermath of someone running too much water through his 6.7 Powerstroke - basically he got to replace his entire fuel system. It wasn't pretty. Nor was it cheap. Probably on par with a year's worth of car payments...

 

Dont use the big rig pumps usually they are high flow and pull a little more though the filter than the reg pumps. I get my diesel where its cheaper. I've run all brands and havent saw any differences. This diesel section is a bit slow unfortunately. If you have any questions about your diesel go over to cumminsforum.
