Default 2001 Dakota lower control arm bumper

I ordered new bumpers for the lower control arm. I thought they would come in the metal retainer; but, they didn't! Any recommendation on what to use to glue the rubber bumper into the retainer?

Not sure what you are talking about but I'll move this to the correct section and see if someone else does.

This is also called a control arm stop. I can send a picture if you don't know what I'm talking about.

If 2wd not a 4x4 I know what you are talking about as I need new ones just waiting for the spare cash. The cup they are in is welded to the lower control arm so to remove the old rubber or whatever its made of you dig it out then to install the new bumper push it into the cup if its very lose and may fall out silicone glue it in but it should just pop in fine.

One time installing new ball joints one bumper broke off I just silicone glued it back in the cup no problems.

$20 each for a chunk of rubber is crazy expensive best price I can find you would think more like $5 or $10 not $20 plus shipping cost.

Thank you! I purchased mine from MoparParts.com for about $21.50 each and the shipping was $14.00. These are yellow in color and are more of a hard rubber compared to the originals.

I think the original ones were that color

Mine had turned black but when it broke off the inside was yellow I noticed what ever material its made of it decomposes fast at this point they are crumbling and cracked up bad I know $40 doesn't sound that bad price wise but I think so. They are on the bottom of needed parts list listed as when extra $$ comes along.

A new paint job will come first or engine rebuild is way more important.

I have new stronger springs quality shocks and all new ball joints and bushings so I'm good for now in that area.

I think it's a composite polystyrene material or something. But yes, they should pop in and there's a detent that holds them. Some gray permatex never hurts when in doubt.
