Rusty 1965 Dodge Coronet has an empty engine bay, a sad interior, and an insane amount of TLC hours desperately needed.

The 1965 Dodge Coronet is a classic piece of Mopar history. So, seeing one pop up with a reasonable asking price is rare. However, there are a handful of project cars floating around that are a great way to find yourself in a classic Mopar dream for less money. Of course, a whole lot of elbow grease is an investment in its own right. Unfortunately, there are some cars that can be beyond saving. As much as we hate to say it, this sad Coronet may be one of those examples.

This rust bucket of a 1965 Dodge Coronet is currently listed for sale on eBay. With a starting bid of $3,500, a quick glance at the initial picture makes you question the pricing right off the bat. However, it only gets worse. The description of the car is enough to make you think that the seller may have accidentally uploaded the wrong set of pictures. However, we all know how some people can be about a car they have for sale and how easily they can overlook major issues.

This Coronet’s Heart Is Not Currently In It

Right off the bat, the listing starts out a bit out of control. The seller writes that the car is in “good condition.” Obviously, the standard for what’s considered “good condition” varies. However, we tend to think that most would not associate that phrase with this car. The outside of the car is clearly covered in rust. However, when you start digging in, it only gets worse. The seller also wrote that the car has “very little rust.” He follows it up by stating that the floor pan is in good shape. However, a quick glance at the bottom of the hood tells you everything you need to know. There’s more rust than there is paint up there.

The seller also states that it’s a 318 automatic car. However, as is clearly seen in the pictures, the engine and transmission are currently not in the vehicle. The description states that both “are available,” which seems to imply they aren’t included in the sale. Additionally, the seller says both the engine and trans are non-operating.

It Doesn’t Get Better Once You Open the Doors

Unfortunately, the inside is nearly unsalvagable. The sagging headliner seems to reveal a rusty roof panel. Additionally, tears in the once beautiful blue upholstery, cracks in the dashboard, and old rotted foam tell the whole story. It looks as if this car was stored outside for a big portion of its life.

Ultimately, there’s not a single part of this car that won’t need substantial refurbishment or replacement. So, the starting bid seems a bit optimistic. Still, we genuinely hope that somebody picks this thing up and saves it! It would be pretty phenomenal to see it make a drastic turnaround.
