We learned back in November that the Chrysler Group was reincarnating the Dodge Scat Pack program but the company didn’t reveal any solid power figures for the three different stage kits.  Today, the company issued a press release with power figures and pricing for the Scat Pack kits for the Dodge Challenger R/T and the Dodge Charger R/T powered by the 5.7L Hemi V8.  No information has been offered for the Dart Scat Packs but the figures for the Hemi powered Challenger and Charger are very impressive.

Scat Pack Stage 1 – $2,195
The Stage 1 Scat Pack kit for the Dodge Challenger R/T and Dodge Charger R/T includes a Mopar cold air intake, a Mopar cat back exhaust system, a Stage 1 performance PCM tune and a high flow air filter.  When installed, these components will add 18 horsepower and 18lb-ft of torque so the Challenger R/T with a manual transmission will pack 393 horsepower and 428lb-ft of torque while the Charger R/T makes 388 horsepower and 413lb-ft of torque.

Scat Pack Stage 2 – $4,090 ($1,895 for Stage 2 plus the cost of Stage 1)
Scat Pack Stage 2 builds onto Scat Pack Stage 1, adding a Mopar high performance camshaft package and a Stage 2 performance PCM tune.  This package adds 30 horsepower and an unspecified amount of torque, but I would guess that the torque is roughly 25lb-ft.  Provided that my guestimate is close, Stage 2 will increase the output of the Challenger R/T (manual trans) to 405 horsepower and 435lb-ft of torque while the Charger R/T jumps to 400 horsepower and 420lb-ft of torque.

Scat Pack Stage 3 – $9,085 ($4,955 plus the price of both Stage 1 and Stage 2)
Stage 3 builds onto both Stage 1 and Stage 2, adding Mopar performance CNC ported cylinder heads, Mopar headers, Mopar high flow catalytic convertors and a Stage 3 PCM tune with a result of 58 extra horsepower and 47lb-ft of torque.  Those figures raise the output of the Challenger R/T so 433 horsepower and 457lb-ft of torque while Charger R/T owners who opt for the Scat Pack Stage 3 kit will jump to 428 horsepower and 442lb-ft of torque.

$9,085 is a hefty chunk of change but when you consider the fact that this complete Stage 3 setup will afford your Challenger or Charger R/T more power than the previous generation SRT versions – the advantages come into better perspective.  Best of all, since these are all approved components, they carry a warranty of their own while also preserving your factory warranty.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
