Cool Thread of the Day: Dodge, Ram and Other Chrysler Vehicle Codes Explained

Have you ever heard a fellow Dodge lover talk about his BR Dodge Ram, DS Ram 1500, JK Jeep, KJ Jeep or ST Stratus like the one shown above and wondered what that meant?  Those two letter codes are assigned by the Chrysler Group engineering team as the chassis designation so in the same way that the modern Dodge Charger, Magnum and Chrysler 300 are based on the LX platform – all Chrysler Group vehicles have a similar letter designation.  Today’s featured cool thread takes a look at a long list of those codes.

This list is a couple years old but surprisingly, not that many changes have been made since then as many of the current Chrysler Group models from Dodge, Ram, Chrysler and Jeep still ride on the same chassis as it did when this was posted.  Plus, this thread offers a great look at the chassis designations from models dating back to the 1970s in some cases.
