Zdung Ho Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

Dodge Charger Hellcat is the quickest of its kind, running an 8.41 at 164.5 miles per hour.

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the quickest, fastest and most powerful gasoline-powered sedan in the world in stock form. This Hellcat Charger is the quickest of the factory-supercharged sedans while also being the quickest Dodge Hellcat car that isn’t significantly lightened-up. While just about every aspect of the car’s drivetrain and suspension has been upgraded, it is unlike many record-setting Hellcat Challengers that have been transformed into lightweight race cars. This sedan weighs over 4,300 pounds in the video, yet it still covers the quarter mile in the mid-8-second range.

Zdung Ho’s Charger Hellcat

The Go Mango Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat in the video below is not new to the record setting scene. This car has long served as the quickest Hellcat sedan in the world, being the first to run in the 8-second range last October. It is obviously heavily modified, but it has more factory components than most of the other record-setting Hellcat cars. This includes the factory 8HP90 transmission, which has been thoroughly upgraded by Paramount Performance, but it has not been replaced with an aftermarket gearbox.

Under the hood, the 6.2-liter Hellcat Hemi engine has been bored and stroked to 428 cubic inches by Demon Performance and TKM. It sports ThiTek custom cylinder heads, a Demon Performance camshaft, a Whipple 4.5-liter supercharger, a Nitrous Outlet system, a Killer Chiller, ID1700 fuel injectors, a Fore triple-pump fuel system, Stainless Works long-tube headers and much more.

Chassis upgrades include a Per4Mance Development DIRS differential brace and front brace, an array of BMR bits including the Upper Control Arm, Upper Trailing Arm, and Lower Trailing Arm, Dodge Demon front springs, a set of Menscer / Reed Performance Rear double-adjustable racing shocks, a TCE 15-inch rear wheel conversion with High Horse Performance / Bogart 15-inch beadlock wheels and more. The entire modification list is available in the video description.

Most importantly, this Hellcat Charger is tuned by owner and driver Zdung Ho. Prior to working on his Charger, Ho had not tuned a car before, but in using his experience in the computer world, he has taught himself to be one of the best Hellcat tuners in the community. He has now tuned other cars, but it all started with this supercharged sedan. Being his own tuner allows the man known in the modern Mopar community as “Z” to make his own adjustments at the track. That has led to lots of success and lots of records.

New World Record

In the video below, we watch as Zdung Ho and his Go Mango Charger Hellcat lay down an 8.41 at 164.5 miles per hour. That is the quickest 2015-and-newer Charger, the quickest Hellcat Charger, the quickest car with the 8HP90 transmission, the quickest Hellcat that weighs more than hasn’t been stripped to a race car and the quickest Hellcat car with a Whipple supercharger. More impressively, the 4,300-pound sedan leaves the line with the front wheels in the air.

The only Dodge Hellcat cars to turn in quicker quarter mile times than this Charger are Challengers that have been dramatically lightened, generally tipping the scales well below 4,000 pounds. Meanwhile, Zdung Ho continues to work at being one of the quickest “heavyweight” street cars in the country.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
